AARP, in cooperation with the United Nations Focal Point on Ageing, Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) organized a series of briefings on February 7 & 8, 2013.
The AARP-UN Briefing Series was held during the fifty-first session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development, (6-15 February 2013) and highlighted the second review and appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing and the priority theme of the Commission. Panel discussions involved experts on global aging and covered topics such as civic participation, social inclusion, and legal advocacy, among others. Attendees included Government delegates, United Nations system experts, NGOs, foundations, the private sector and academics.
